Can this be more than scab?

Hi! I noticed a weird rough spot on my 9 months kitten’s face this morning. There’s no blood or anything, but like a small scab. He does jump around like a maniac and last night we had thunderstorm. I called the vet and sent the same photos and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday. Vet said to monitor him until then. My worry is, can it be more than a scab?
